Edit RTL documents natively
Edit Arabic and Hebrew DOCX documents with a mirrored interface, mixed-direction text, and RTL tables. Try the live editor.
DOCX Editor 2.33 brings right-to-left (RTL) editing and a mirrored interface to Arabic and Hebrew documents. Text, tables, and editor controls each follow their reading direction.
Arabic letters keep their joined forms. Hebrew and Arabic text can share a line with Latin names, numbers, and punctuation. Lists and authored RTL tables follow the document’s direction.
Try the RTL editor
This project update uses an Arabic interface and document text. It includes an RTL table, numbers, and the Latin name DOCX Editor. Select a mixed-language line or edit a table cell.
The toolbar and menus read from right to left. Navigation opens at the right, and the review column moves to the left of the page. Directional icons mirror; keyboard shortcuts keep their order.
Use Arabic or Hebrew in your app
With version 2.33 or later, pass a language catalog to the editor:
import { DocxEditor } from "@docx-editor.dev/react";
import { ar } from "@docx-editor.dev/i18n";
import "@docx-editor.dev/core/styles/editor.css";
export function ArabicEditor({ bytes }: { bytes: Uint8Array }) {
return <DocxEditor document={bytes} i18n={ar} locale="ar-SA" />;
}For Hebrew, use i18n={he} and import he from the same package. The catalog translates and mirrors the interface. The locale prop controls regional formatting.
Document fidelity across languages
Interface language and document direction are independent. An English interface can edit an Arabic document without changing its layout. Use paragraph direction controls to change reading order; right alignment alone does not set RTL direction.
The editor also supports CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) and Latin text. Try the CJK example or explore language support.
For mixed-direction editing behavior and supported limits, see Right-to-left support.
